The Art of Being Seen

Some men enjoy showing off. Some of us enjoy looking. And sometimes that’s the whole point.

THE OPENING / 00

There’s something wonderfully unapologetic about men who know they’re being admired.

And when three of them decide to show off together, well, subtlety clearly wasn’t on the agenda.

Three men, one photograph, and not a great deal left to the imagination.

It’s cheeky, confident, a little outrageous and rather amusing. But that’s precisely what makes it interesting.

Across this little collection, six men appear in four photographs. Different bodies, different surroundings and different ways of attracting attention.

Some poses are theatrical. Others are spontaneous. And some are downright ridiculous.

They clearly weren’t trying to disappear into the background.

01
AN EXERCISE IN DISTRACTION

The Hotel Room.

Adult man posing on a hotel bed against an upholstered headboard
Immaculate surroundings. An unexpected view.

An enormous padded headboard, immaculate white sheets and a rather spectacular view.

Although, admittedly, nobody’s particularly interested in the furniture.

There’s something almost theatrical about the whole arrangement. The carefully presented room, the confident pose and a man who clearly knows how to make himself comfortable.

And those feet? Gorgeous.

The hotel might have spent a fortune on the interior design, but I suspect that’s not what most people will remember.

02
AN UNLIKELY STUDIO

The Storeroom.

Adult man posing among industrial shelving and storage containers
Industrial shelving. Unexpected artistic ambition.

Now, this one genuinely makes me laugh.

Metal shelving, plastic containers and cardboard boxes.

The sort of place where you’d expect somebody to be looking for a missing screwdriver.

Instead, somebody has decided it’s the perfect location to show off.

And why not?

Who needs an expensive photographic studio when you’ve got industrial racking and a little imagination?

There’s something wonderfully absurd about the contrast.

An entirely practical environment. A completely impractical pose.

Some people see a storeroom. Others see an opportunity.

03
THE ART OF NOT HIDING

The Camouflage.

Adult man posing on a bed wearing camouflage-patterned underwear
Dressed to blend in. Posing to be noticed.

Back to the bedroom.

A little camouflage, a relaxed pose and another rather lovely pair of bare feet.

And here’s the irony.

Camouflage is supposed to help you blend into your surroundings.

Clearly, nobody told him.

There’s nothing particularly elaborate about the photograph. No expensive hotel furniture, no industrial shelving, no grand production.

Just a man, a bed and the confidence to enjoy being photographed.

Sometimes simplicity does the job perfectly.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

And why shouldn’t men show off?

We’ve spent generations admiring, photographing and fantasising about women’s bodies.

They’re everywhere. In cinema, advertising, fashion, photography and art.

And there’s nothing inherently wrong with appreciating beauty.

But I happen to enjoy looking at men.

Their bodies, their confidence, their personalities and their willingness to show off a little.

Sometimes it’s sexy. Sometimes it’s funny. Sometimes it’s both.

And sometimes, frankly, I just appreciate a gorgeous pair of feet.

What’s wrong with that?

Men don’t always have to be serious, guarded or uncomfortable with being admired.

They can be playful, provocative, confident and completely at ease with their bodies.

And those of us who enjoy looking shouldn’t have to turn that appreciation into some grand philosophical argument.

Sometimes attraction is simply attraction.

EXIT / THE PLEASURE OF LOOKING

The Pleasure of Looking

Six men. Four photographs. And absolutely no shortage of confidence.

A little exhibitionism. A little humour. Some memorable poses, gorgeous bodies and a few rather lovely pairs of feet.

From the luxury of a hotel room to the unlikely glamour of industrial shelving, and a man wearing camouflage who clearly had no intention of blending in.

Different men. Different bodies. Different ways of showing off.

And why shouldn’t they?

We spend so much time being told what beauty should look like, who we’re supposed to admire and what constitutes acceptable attraction.

But sometimes it’s much simpler than that.

They enjoyed showing off. I enjoyed looking.

No grand explanation. No apology. No need to pretend otherwise.

Because being seen is one thing.

Being appreciated is quite another.
